July 20, 2013 ~ Sunday River, Maine
If you want to run 12 miles with 10,000 other people or wait in half-hour lines to climb over a few walls you'll find plenty of mud runs and military-style obstacles races where you can do just that. If you want to suffer for hours or risk death, you can find those races too. But if you're looking for something different – a fun event to test yourself and push your limits both physically and mentally without all the ego and attitude – welcome to the Tough Mountain Challenge.
The Tough Mountain Challenge is an adventure obstacle race born in the mountains of Maine that tackles the alpine terrain of Sunday River ski resort and a variety of natural and man-made obstacles over a five-kilometer course. You won't die. You may not even bleed. But trust us - it's a challenge you won't soon forget that can test event the fittest athletes. You'll be tackling the mountains while negotiating obstacles, mud, water and more. When you finally cross the finish line, you’ll find an all-day party complete with a DJs, live music, barbecues, a beer garden, a Mini Mountain Challenge for kids, chairlift rides, ziplines, and more.
The 2013 Tough Mountain Challenge is sold out with a full-capacity field of 3,000 competitors. Stay tuned for information on a Friday night competitor party with express check-in!
